Tax Manager – Corporate Tax (New York City)

About the Opportunity

Join a growing multinational organization as a key member of its corporate tax team. Reporting directly to the Tax Director, this position offers broad exposure across tax accounting, compliance, reporting, planning, transfer pricing, and indirect tax matters.

The Tax Manager will partner closely with accounting, finance, domestic operations, and international affiliates to support the company’s tax strategy while ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax requirements.

This role is ideal for a tax professional seeking a mix of technical tax work, strategic involvement, and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic corporate environment.


Key Responsibilities

Income Tax Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions and related tax accounting under ASC 740
  • Prepare monthly tax journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support income tax reporting and related financial statement disclosures
  • Coordinate quarterly estimated tax payments and extension filings

Tax Compliance & Audit Support

  • Assist with federal, state, and local tax compliance processes
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and reviews
  • Respond to tax authority notices and information requests
  • Gather and maintain supporting documentation for compliance and audit purposes

Transfer Pricing & International Tax

  • Prepare and maintain transfer pricing support and documentation
  • Collaborate with domestic and international affiliates to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance
  • Support cross-border tax matters and intercompany transactions

Tax Planning & Advisory

  • Research tax issues and provide guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Analyze tax implications of business transactions and operational activities
  • Support tax planning initiatives and strategic projects
  • Monitor business activities and identify tax risks and opportunities

Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Review and enhance tax-related internal controls
  • Recommend improvements to tax processes and governance structures
  • Support compliance with internal control and financial reporting requirements

Indirect Tax

  • Manage sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Oversee annual report and personal property tax filings
  • Coordinate data collection and reconciliation with operational and accounting teams
  • Provide guidance on indirect tax implications of business transactions

Special Projects

  • Lead or support ad hoc tax initiatives and cross-functional projects
  • Assist with process improvements and tax function efficiency initiatives

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of corporate tax experience
  • Experience with tax provision preparation and income tax accounting concepts
  • Experience supporting corporate income tax compliance
  • Strong understanding of consolidated corporate tax environments
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including modeling and data analysis

Preferred

  • Professional accounting certification (CPA or equivalent)
  • Experience within multinational organizations
  • Exposure to transfer pricing and international tax matters
  • Experience coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors
