Senior Manager, Indirect Tax – Remote/Hybrid (U.S.-Based)

About the Opportunity

Join a high-growth global technology organization as a key member of the tax leadership team. Reporting to the Head of Tax, this role offers broad responsibility across global indirect tax, trade and customs, tax technology, compliance, audit defense, and strategic business advisory.

The Senior Manager, Indirect Tax will partner closely with business operations, finance, legal, procurement, sales operations, and accounting teams to support continued global growth. This role combines hands-on technical tax work with strategic leadership and the opportunity to help build and scale a world-class tax function.

The organization offers a flexible remote/hybrid work model within the United States.


Key Responsibilities

Indirect Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Lead global indirect tax compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions, including sales and use tax, VAT, GST, and other transaction taxes
  • Coordinate with accounting teams and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate filings
  • Oversee reporting processes and strengthen compliance controls across the organization

Technical Tax Leadership

  • Advise business leaders on indirect tax implications of transactions, commercial agreements, and strategic initiatives
  • Support contract reviews and negotiations from a tax perspective
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure appropriate implementation across the business

Audit & Risk Management

  • Manage indirect tax audits, notices, assessments, and information requests
  • Develop strategies to minimize tax risk and defend tax positions
  • Partner with advisors and business stakeholders on complex audit and controversy matters

Supply Chain & Business Advisory

  • Support supply chain planning and expansion initiatives
  • Analyze tax implications of new products, markets, and operational changes
  • Advise on business taxes, import duties, incentives, and customs-related matters

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with finance, legal, procurement, accounting, sales operations, and technology teams
  • Support taxability determinations and system implementations
  • Ensure tax considerations are incorporated into business decisions and growth initiatives

Technology & Process Improvement

  • Oversee indirect tax systems and reporting technology
  • Drive automation initiatives and process improvements
  • Improve efficiency, data quality, and scalability across compliance workflows
  • Support tax technology transformation initiatives

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop internal team members and external advisors
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality technical work product
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support trade and customs initiatives
  • Participate in strategic tax projects and special assignments as needed

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive indirect tax experience in a multinational corporation and/or major public accounting firm
  • Strong technical expertise in indirect tax, including sales tax, VAT, and GST
  • Experience managing complex, multi-jurisdictional compliance environments
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Preferred

  • CPA or other advanced professional certification
  • Experience with trade and customs matters
  • Experience leading and developing tax professionals
  • Exposure to high-growth global organizations
