Director, International Tax

About the Opportunity

Join a global, publicly traded technology and manufacturing organization serving a diverse range of industries through highly engineered products and mission-critical solutions. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a key member of the global tax leadership team, partnering closely with finance, legal, and operational leaders across a complex multinational environment.

The Director, International Tax will report to senior tax leadership and oversee international tax accounting, compliance, planning, transfer pricing, and transaction-related tax matters. This is a high-impact leadership role with significant exposure to global operations, M&A activity, and strategic tax initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

International Tax Accounting & Reporting

  • Lead the international components of the quarterly and annual global tax provision process
  • Coordinate with global finance teams and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely income tax reporting for foreign entities
  • Support international tax calculations and reporting requirements for financial statement purposes
  • Provide technical guidance on tax accounting implications of international tax positions

U.S. International Tax Compliance

  • Direct all aspects of U.S. international tax compliance, including various information reporting requirements and international tax calculations
  • Oversee earnings and profits calculations, foreign tax credit computations, and international tax reporting obligations
  • Ensure compliance with evolving global tax regulations and disclosure requirements
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to manage global compliance obligations

Global Tax Planning

  • Support strategic international tax planning initiatives
  • Model tax impacts of global business operations, supply chain changes, entity structures, and financing arrangements
  • Analyze and advise on international tax implications of business decisions and operational changes
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the company’s global tax position while maintaining compliance

Transfer Pricing

  • Oversee global transfer pricing compliance and documentation requirements
  • Manage transfer pricing policies and processes across international operations
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to maintain defensible transfer pricing positions
  • Ensure consistency of transfer pricing documentation globally

M&A & Strategic Transactions

  • Support mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and restructuring projects
  • Perform tax due diligence and identify transaction-related tax risks and opportunities
  • Assist with post-acquisition integration and tax planning initiatives
  • Develop tax-efficient structures for new investments and business initiatives

Tax Research & Documentation

  • Draft and review technical tax memoranda supporting tax positions and reporting disclosures
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and technical support files
  • Research and analyze complex international tax issues
  • Provide technical guidance to tax, finance, and business stakeholders

Audit & Tax Controversy

  • Coordinate responses to tax authority inquiries and information requests
  • Support global tax audits and controversy matters
  • Partner with local finance teams and external advisors on audit defense strategies
  • Manage relationships with tax authorities and service providers where appropriate

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience in multinational corporate tax departments, public accounting firms, and/or law firms
  • Strong experience in international tax planning, compliance, and tax accounting
  • Deep understanding of multinational tax structures and cross-border transactions
  • Experience managing complex global tax projects and external advisor relationships
  • Strong analytical, research, and tax modeling capabilities

Preferred

  • Master of Taxation (MST), JD, or LL.M.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification
  • Experience supporting multinational manufacturing, technology, or industrial organizations
  • Experience with global tax reform initiatives and emerging international tax rules
