Tax Accountant – Remote from Michigan

The Tax Accountant will work closely with tax and accounting teams to support compliance, research, and planning activities across a multi-entity structure.
This is a primarily remote role, with occasional travel required to a corporate office in the Midwest.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
- Assist in the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for multiple entities, with a focus on partnership taxation
- Support multi-state filings and ensure compliance across jurisdictions
- Prepare indirect tax filings, including sales & use tax and personal property tax
Fixed Assets & Accounting Support
- Maintain fixed asset records across residential, commercial, and corporate entities
- Support tax depreciation tracking and related reporting
Tax Research & Planning
- Research technical tax issues related to return preparation and compliance
- Stay up to date on tax law changes and emerging guidance
- Assist with analysis of transactions and tax implications
Forecasting & Projections
- Prepare year-end tax projections for entities and internal stakeholders
- Analyze projection results to identify potential risks and planning opportunities
Collaboration & Projects
- Partner with tax and accounting team members to support ongoing initiatives
- Contribute to special projects and process improvements as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 2+ years of relevant tax experience
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred:
- Experience with partnership tax (real estate experience highly valued)
- Familiarity with tax software such as CCH Axcess (or similar platforms)
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), or progress toward certification
