Interim Financial Accounting Manager (EMEA)

London (Hybrid)

6-9 Month Contract

£400-£450 p/day (Inside IR35)

An established international business is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Accounting Manager to provide reliable, hands-on support to its European financial control team on a 6-9-month contract. This role requires a strong technical accountant who can step into a busy environment and quickly become a trusted member of the team, ensuring a smooth and efficient month-end close process, accurate IFRS accounting across multiple European entities, and robust financial reporting.

The successful candidate will be a proven ‘safe pair of hands’ with strong financial control experience, capable of managing competing priorities and maintaining high standards of accuracy in a complex international environment. Immediate availability, or availability at short notice, is strongly preferred to facilitate a comprehensive handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end financial close activities across a portfolio of European entities.
  • Review and ensure accurate IFRS accounting treatments are applied across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations and investigate/resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and provide information required for local audits.
  • Partner with regional finance teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of reporting submissions.
  • Review intercompany balances and assist with month-end consolidation processes.
  • Support technical accounting matters, including interpretation and application of IFRS requirements.
  • Ensure strong financial controls are maintained throughout the reporting cycle.
  • Assist with financial forecasting and reporting requirements where required.
  • Work closely with external auditors, tax advisers and corporate finance teams to support reporting obligations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes and enhance the efficiency of the close cycle.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Fully qualified accountant holding ACA or ACCA qualification (essential).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with proven experience applying IFRS in a multinational environment.
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex month-end close and financial reporting processes.
  • Experience working with multiple European entities and cross-border accounting considerations.
  • Strong background in financial control, balance sheet management and reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting statutory reporting and external audit processes.
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across finance teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to quickly add value in an interim capacity.
  • Strong systems knowledge, ideally including large ERP platforms such as SAP or similar.
  • High attention to detail with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Must be immediately available or available at short notice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional looking to join a well-established international organisation and make an immediate impact within a high-performing finance team.
