Indirect Tax Lead
We’re partnering with a high-growth online marketplace that works closely with leading consumer product goods (CPG) brands and retailers to help them scale their digital presence and drive revenue through innovative e-commerce strategies. As part of their continued expansion, they’re seeking a Senior Manager, Indirect Tax to lead and build out their indirect tax function.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the indirect tax function, overseeing sales and use tax, marketplace facilitator laws, and other transaction-based taxes across multiple U.S. states and international jurisdictions.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local indirect tax regulations, including timely and accurate filings, payments, and reporting.
- Design and implement scalable tax processes and internal controls to support rapid business growth and mitigate operational and financial risk.
- Manage tax audits and inquiries, coordinating with external advisors and internal stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently and maintain strong documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, legal, operations, and technology teams to support new product launches, business model changes, and geographic expansion.
- Evaluate and deploy tax automation tools and ERP integrations to streamline compliance, reduce manual work, and improve reporting accuracy.
- Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory changes in indirect tax laws, proactively assessing their impact on Optivations’ business model and advising leadership.
- Support strategic initiatives such as new partnerships, system implementations, and M&A activity, providing indirect tax guidance and risk assessments.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert on indirect tax, offering training, documentation, and advisory support across departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Master’s in Taxation strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in indirect tax, with deep expertise in multi-state sales and use tax compliance and strategy.
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or consumer product goods industries is highly preferred, especially with marketplace facilitator laws and digital platforms.
- Proven ability to manage complex tax environments, build scalable processes, and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented, proactive, and strategic mindset.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams and with external advisors.
