I am partnered with a Top 10 UK accountancy practice that is continuing to invest in and grow its Audit presence in Leeds. The firm is well known for its collaborative, people‑focused culture and works with a diverse client base across a wide range of sectors, from owner‑managed businesses to larger, more complex groups. As part of this growth, they are now seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join their regional audit team.

As an Audit Manager, you will take responsibility for a varied and balanced audit portfolio, offering exposure to clients across multiple industries rather than a single specialist sector. This role is well suited to someone confident working directly with clients, building long‑term relationships, and contributing to the wider commercial success of the practice. You will work closely with colleagues across audit and specialist teams, within an environment that actively supports development, progression, and internal mobility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a diverse audit portfolio, ensuring engagements are delivered to a consistently high technical and professional standard
  • Develop strong, trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, acting as a commercially aware adviser
  • Oversee the delivery of multiple audit assignments simultaneously, balancing efficiency, quality and risk
  • Manage and support the development of a small number of direct reports through coaching, feedback and mentoring
  • Plan and coordinate resources and timelines to meet client expectations and wider operational priorities
  • Contribute to the growth of the practice by identifying opportunities within existing relationships and supporting pitch activity
  • Be involved in broader value‑add and advisory‑style work as required, supporting clients beyond core audit delivery

Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Currently operating at Audit Manager level within a UK accountancy practice
  • Strong working knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards
  • Proven experience managing multiple audits and competing deadlines
  • Experience auditing a broad range of clients across different sectors
  • Commercially minded, with an interest in developing client relationships and supporting business growth
