My client is a leading energy provider, serving millions of customers across multiple states in the western U.S. The company operates an extensive utility infrastructure with a focus on power generation, transmission, and distribution, supporting a large-scale capital investment program.

I am seeking a highly technical tax professional to join a large corporate tax team, specializing in income tax treatment of tangible and intangible property, tax depreciation, and deferred income taxes.

This position is fully onsite, five days a week, within Portland, Oregon with relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a capital-intensive industry undergoing significant transformation, requiring expertise in complex technical tax law, big data analysis, and specialized tax software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Depreciation & Fixed Asset Accounting – Manage and utilize specialized software applications for tax depreciation & deferred income tax tracking (expert training provided).
  • Tax Compliance & Reporting – Support fixed asset tax data for provisions, tax filings, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Audit & Regulatory Filings – Respond to tax inquiries, audits, and regulatory requests, working closely with government authorities.
  • Big Data & Analysis – Analyze key financial reporting metrics, variance analysis, and regulatory flow-through calculations.
  • Collaboration Across Tax & Finance Teams – Work alongside accounting, legal, and corporate departments to achieve tax compliance goals.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • CPA qualified
  • experience in corporate taxation (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred).
  • Strong technical tax expertise with proven research capabilities
  • Experience handling large data sets (Excel proficiency a plus).
  • Background in publicly traded businesses & IFRS-based tax reporting is beneficial.
