Regional Accounting Manager
Responsibilities:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with FLS policies, US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and local statutory laws and regulations and that business is conducted within FLS ethical code of business conduct
- Manage and review work of staff. Complete mid-year and annual reviews. Drive department goals and objectives through execution of effective processes and communication with immediate and management teams.
- Support the monthly general ledger and financial reporting close process.
- Communicate with other functional areas and site locations, responding to voice messages, email, and etc. in the appropriate manner.
- Review staff member job responsibilities, ensuring work is performed accurately, completely, and timely, in accordance with company policy.
- Manage the general accounting processes and procedures for areas including cash, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, unclaimed property, etc.
- Manage, review, and approve monthly journal entries (including topside journals, if any), recurring journal entries, and account reconciliations, including the maintenance of supporting documentation
- Manage, review and signoff on the daily Accounts Payable disbursement process, including electronic payments (wire & ACH), and checks.
- Manage, review, and approve supplemental data and other reporting, both internal and external, for areas of responsibility, including Fixed Asset CIP.
- Review monthly bank reconciliations for corporate bank accounts.
- Review monthly Oracle Accounts Payable reports including the AP Trial Balance, Posted Payments, Posted Invoices Unaccounted for Transactions, and Invoices on Hold for SOX control purposes.
- Complete tasks and interact as required with the outsourced Controls (SOX), internal and external audit teams.
- Assist with the Quarterly Corporate Analytical Review as needed.
- Monitor, review and periodically self-test Corporate Accounting documented policies and procedures, including spreadsheet controls, for SOX compliance and gaps. Follow-up, develop and remediate controls as needed.
- Manage and communicate the budget and forecast implication as related to Fixed Asset depreciation.
- Focus on continuous process improvement, optimizing the utilization of tools and human resources.
- Review and verify quarterly Corporate’s Financial Controls Checklist, prior to Director signoff.
- Provide financial support and ad hoc analysis to departmental and senior management
- Serve as the subject matter expert for area of responsibilities, along with team members.
- Assist the Tax Department with analysis and explanations related to IRS audits.
- Interact and respond to SOX Controls, internal and external auditors’ requests.
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 8-10 years relevant experience
- Strong financial background with 5+ years experience as Controller, Accounting Manager or Finance Business Partner of a $50M+ industrial manufacturing operation.
- Managed 3+ direct reports and supervising remote plants or locations
- Strong cost accounting background
- Experience with internal controls and audit
- Strong ethical behavior
- Possess a strong knowledge of US GAAP (ASC 606) and SOX control
- Experience operating within a Shared Services Organization environment
- Comfortable interfacing with operational and financial leadership
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Must be process and goal driven, customer oriented, results oriented, self-motivated
- Excellent PC skills including Windows, Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Experience using Oracle R12
- Experience with publicly traded global company
- Experience with financial consolidation systems; SAP BPC, Hyperion
