Responsabilities

  • Take the lead in all outsourced US federal, state and local tax filings. This includes forecasting payments, ensuring returns are accurately prepared, and making sure all filings are made in a timely manner. Elements of this may be taken in-house over time.
  • Process tax audits as and when they arise
  • Maintain a tax calendar of payments and submission
  • Perform the monthly controls checks and reconciliations
  • Ownership and preparation of year-end tax schedules for US and Canada. This includes calculating tax provisions and disclosures for local financial statements and working together with other members of the Group Tax team on group consolidation.
  • Be completely on top of all new tax laws and cases, ensuring our operations are fully in line with latest practice, guidance and regulatory requirements. This includes monitoring for local regulatory changes, case law, OECD digital taxes, and any other developments that affect the region.
  • Be the go to tax person in the region, providing the business and product teams with first class, commercially minded tax advice.
  • Support the Global Tax Group on ad hoc research and projects from time to time, including expansion into new countries, monitoring transfer pricing charges, intra-group debt, and ensuring we are compliant with rules around CFCs, Tad Reform, interest restrictions etc.
  • Work closely with financial controllers, accounting, and finance system teams.
  • Build relationships with non-finance teams to understand how the wider business works.

Requirements

As we continue to scale at speed, this role will inevitably evolve over time, so you’ll need to be proactive, independent and excited at the prospect of solving unfamiliar problems.

  • Fully qualified CPA, ACA, ACCA, CTA, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of both US federal and multi-state taxes.
  • Proven ability to work in an uncertain environment in countries and taxes that you have not worked on before.
  • A flair for solving problems and be excited at the prospect of working on challenges outside of your usual comfort zone
  • Ability to manage external advisors, setting and managing budgets
  • Experience in managing Financial Audits under US GAAP (IFRS would be massively helpful too)
  • Able to work as part of team as well as individually and the flexibility to manage diverse range of stake holders.
  • Proven to be able to think on your feet and roll your sleeves up
