Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor tax risks in the USA and Guyana, and other operational areas and project locations
  • Review and manage operations and contracts for optimal tax outcomes
  • Manage tax compliance (corporate tax, VAT, employment taxes, etc.)
  • Ensure global employment tax compliance
  • Ensure transfer pricing documentation compliance
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and tax authorities
  • Coordinate within the group on cross-border tax issues
  • Maintain and update tax risk management documents

Task can include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor the Company’s operations to identify, manage and mitigate tax risks
  • Management and control of tax compliance obligations in the USA and Guyana. This includes:
  • Corporate tax, including withholding taxes and other filings (1042s, 5472s, etc.)
    • VAT / Sales and Use Tax
    • Employment and personnel taxes
    • US Federal and State taxes
    • Other indirect taxes
  • Strategic business partner, working with the Commercial and Contracts Teams to review tender documents, contracts and chartering arrangements to advise on tax implications, identify and manage risks, and input to pricing on bids
  • Manage company’s employee tax exposures and obligations in project locations around the globe, to ensure compliance with local requirements
  • Manage tax controversy matters including queries, risk reviews and audits initiated by tax authorities
  • Assist Finance Teams with financial statements statutory tax reporting disclosures, including review of tax effect accounting entries
  • Prepare and/or review Transfer Pricing disclosures and documentation for all filing locations within the North America region to ensure compliance with local requirements
  • Co-ordinate with Tax Teams across all regions on cross-border and international tax issues to ensure optimal outcomes for the company
  • Keep up to date with taxation developments affecting the North America region assess the impact on the Company
  • Advise Senior Management on the tax implications of the changes in regional tax laws, new transactions, and changes in contractual or entity structures
  • Prepare for and present at tax technical training sessions for non-tax teams as required
  • Maintain the North America tax risk register and prepare reports on tax risks for inclusion in quarterly North America and Global Board reporting packs
  • Any other work required of the role as requested by the EVP, VP Finance or Group General Counsel
