Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with outside tax advisors to prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Coordinate and manage the tax compliance process, including gathering necessary data, analyzing information and meeting filing deadlines.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions, including the calculation of current and deferred tax liabilities, effective tax rates, and uncertain tax positions. Analyze financial data and tax accounts to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Assist with REIT compliance matters including REIT Testing and Tax compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize the company’s global tax position.
  • Coordinate with internal departments for data required to file tax returns, analyze and prepare transfer pricing information and complete audit exams.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve tax processes, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Implement best practices to leverage technology solutions to drive continuous improvement in tax operations.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to ensure potential tax issues are addressed proactively.
  • Research and analyze tax issues, including legislative changes, IRS guidance, and industry trends, to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar field or equivalent experience.
  • 3 (+) years experience in direct tax compliance, tax accounting, and/or tax consulting, preferably in a public accounting firm.
  • Strong understanding of US federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including proficiency in researching and interpreting tax guidance.
  • Experience with Real Estate Investment Trusts, international tax matters, transfer pricing, or tax provisions preferred.
  • Strong data analysis, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn new technical skills and systems related to the job.
