A newly created opportunity has arisen to join this US headquartered company that operates in over 100 countries worldwide. As part of the tax team, reporting into the Head of Tax, your role will be broad in scope covering both employment tax and expatriate tax issues. You will join an existing team of 6, working in their London offices a minimum of 3 days a week. This is an exciting opportunity for you to make a positive impact and shape the future for this business in your area of expertise. The role is both strategic and operational so a willingness to be flexible and adapt to the requirements of the position will be key.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direction and leadership to the business in all employment tax matters, ensuring compliance and tax risks are managed and documented.
  • Acting as the main point of contact with HMRC for employment tax related matters.
  • Leading on the preparation of the annual PSA.
  • Working with Payroll to manage STBV reporting in the UK and other business traveller returns.
  • Working with Global reward to provide tax advice on remuneration matters.
  • Supporting on technical questions on Off Payroll workers.
  • Providing support to HR on employment tax matters such as:
    • Termination payments
    • Tax treatment of associate benefits and salary sacrifice arrangements, including P11D reporting.
  • Ongoing projects to improve efficiency of and documentation of processes.
  • Being the primary point of contact for HR, Payroll and internationally mobile staff to advise on overseas employment taxes and social security issues in the UK.
  • Managing the relationship with tax advisers to obtain advice on global employment tax and social security matters.
  • Managing international employment tax issues arising from global mobility. This includes managing the process for monitoring movements, liaising with advisors and partnering closely with HR Business Partners on policy and processes. Managing necessary actions on international cases through to completion.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally hold a tax or accounting qualification and possess significant experience in expatriate and employment tax. Individuals from a pure employment tax or expatriate tax background will also be considered however you would need a willingness and aptitude to pick up other areas. An ability to provide advice in a concise and easy to understand manner will be key. You will also need to be self-sufficient with the ability to work as part of a team, and have a desire for continuous improvement and innovation.
