Tax leaders and professionals gathered to explore the evolving landscape of the tax function.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session was structured around three core themes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The value proposition of the future tax department<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ideal tax team of the future&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The role of technology in shaping tomorrow\u2019s tax function&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Excellent input from several in-house tax leaders was complemented by a people consulting (change management) expert \u2013 combined with Becca and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brewermorris.com\/consultants\/matthew-gravelle\/\">Matthew Gravelle\u2019<\/a>s recruitment perspectives.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through interactive polls, expert insights and open discussions, the panel offered a roadmap for transforming tax departments into strategic powerhouses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are Rebecca\u2019s main takeaways from the panel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-value-proposition-of-the-future-tax-department-nbsp\">The value proposition of the future tax department&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session opened with a poll assessing the maturity level of participants&#8217; tax functions. After some healthy debate \u2013 we concluded AI will be a great tool as a \u201cco-pilot\u201d to a tax professional however it cannot compete yet with the interpretation of tax and the creativity of a well rounded (human) in-house tax professional\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leadership development<\/strong>: future tax leaders must be equipped not only with technical expertise but also with strategic vision and people management capabilities\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Future-proofing<\/strong>: preparing for future challenges requires a proactive approach \u2013 investing in scalable systems, continuous learning and scenario planning\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strategic alignment<\/strong>: technology should not be an end in itself but a means to align tax with business goals and stakeholder expectations\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-building-the-tax-function-of-tomorrow-nbsp\">Building the tax function of tomorrow&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session concluded with a reflection on the foundational elements needed to build the tax function of the future:\u202fcapital, people and technology. By identifying anticipated challenges, organisations can tailor their strategies to develop the right capabilities and leadership.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The overarching message was clear: the tax function is no longer a back-office operation.
