Tax Manager – U.S. (Hybrid)

The organization is seeking a hands-on U.S. Tax Manager to oversee tax compliance, tax accounting, and internal controls for its U.S. operations. This is a high-impact role with visibility to global tax leadership and cross-functional teams, offering involvement in both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.

This role operates in a flexible hybrid work environment.


Key Responsibilities

U.S. Tax Compliance

  • Manage and coordinate all federal, state, and local corporate income tax filings
  • Maintain tax compliance calendar and ensure all deadlines are met
  • Review tax returns prepared by external advisors for accuracy and alignment with global policies
  • Oversee indirect taxes including sales & use and property tax filings
  • Manage relationships with external advisors to ensure high-quality deliverables

SOX & Internal Controls

  • Maintain and oversee SOX-related tax controls, including documentation, testing, and remediation
  • Ensure controls are embedded within business processes and clearly understood by stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal audit, finance, and external auditors during testing cycles

Tax Accounting & Reporting (U.S. GAAP)

  • Prepare quarterly tax provisions and support annual provision review under ASC 740
  • Analyze effective tax rate (ETR) and support forecasting activities
  • Ensure accuracy of tax balances and supporting documentation for financial reporting
  • Partner with global finance teams during monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles

Transfer Pricing & Intercompany

  • Maintain U.S. transfer pricing documentation in accordance with IRS requirements
  • Support intercompany charge calculations, adjustments, and reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate treatment of intercompany transactions in reporting and filings

Strategic Projects & Planning

  • Partner with tax leadership on planning initiatives, including:
    • Incentive evaluations
    • Tax authority matters (IRS and state)
    • Business expansion and supply chain considerations
    • Commercial and operational decision support
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and broader tax initiatives

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of tax experience, ideally a mix of public accounting (Big 4 or similar) and in-house
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate tax and ASC 740 tax accounting
  • Experience with SOX/internal control frameworks
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • CPA, EA, or Master’s in Taxation
  • Experience in a multinational or life sciences/biotech environment
  • Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts
