We are looking to add a Tax Manager to its global tax team. The exciting role will play an integral part to support tax reporting, REIT compliance, transactions, and investor reporting and its affiliates as the company continues to expand its market share as the leading and premier data center provider for its customers worldwide.

What you’ll do

Tax Reporting

  • Managing the tax return filings of the applicable entities. This generally includes coordination between compliance advisor and internal accounting/finance team to facilitate the requested information at a timely manner and reviewing the tax returns for completeness and correctness.
  • Investor tax reporting on an annual basis, including interim updates on taxable income projections encompassing relevant disclosures to certain investors (e.g., UBTI for tax exempts, FIRPTA for non-U.S.)
  • Track investors’ tax basis including Section 743(b) step-up and built-in-gain (“BIG”) on the contributed assets, review investor’s taxable income allocation, and maintain capital accounts at tax basis, and 704(b) basis.
  • Manage distribution and tax withholding for investors for U.S. state and local and offshore investor withholding.
  • Managing quarterly estimated payments for any tax-paying entities in the structure.
  • Computation of provision and accrual for income taxes for corporate entities in the structure.

REIT Compliance

  • Ensure subsidiary REITs are operated in a REIT compliant manner including, but not limited to, interim review of new service offerings and contracts, restructuring transactions and hedging transactions.
  • Manage quarterly REIT asset test, annual income test and distribution analysis.
  • Manage preferred shareholder and common shareholder tax reporting obligations for 1099 reporting.
  • Maintain annual shareholder demand letter.

Transaction Related

  • Tax structuring including acquisition, dispositions, investor’s exit strategy, restructuring of its existing investments and
  • 1031 exchange transactions.
  • Work with Legal on entity elections (e.g. TRS and check-the-box election, etc.).

Role

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the opportunity, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting/tax
  • At least 5 years of partnership tax experience
  • Solid experience with and working knowledge of U.S. corporate and partnership with a focus on real estate industry
  • Ability to communicate complex tax technical concepts to non-tax business teams to successfully implement initiatives

Just as important will be the following competencies and characteristics:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Solid organizational skills, great attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • The ability to achieve goals and work independently as well as to contribute as a team player

Preferred But Not Required

  • A master’s in taxation/accounting
