Tax Team:
The Americas’ Tax Team is led by Clayton Shipley. Clay’s responsibilities include US tax compliance, which is done in-house in Chicago, as well as income tax compliance for Canada and all of Latin America through our outside tax advisors, mostly Deloitte. Additionally, Clay is responsible for legal entity rationalization in the Americas – a process which undertakes merging in legal entities acquired through recent acquisitions. Clay is does the tax provision for the US and other countries in the North/South American regions.
Supporting Clay is Brandon Ranieri. Brandon is currently working with our US tax compliance software, Corptax, so complete the US federal and state tax returns for our FY22 tax year (March year end – returns are due in January-February).
We also have 2 indirect tax specialists in our US team, Nicole & John. Clay reports to the global head of tax who is based in the UK. Additionally, there are 2 income tax managers in the UK who handle all tax compliance and reporting for Europe & Asia. Finally we have 4 VAT specialists – 2 in the UK and 2 in the Czech Republic.
Current needs of US tax team:
As Clay is undertaking more responsibility with South America, Canada and projects such as legal entity rationalization, I need someone with extensive experience to step in doing detailed review of Brandon’s compliance work and to be my right hand to complete tasks that are more technically challenging, which I can review and then advise on.
This person should have manager experience, be detailed oriented, see the big picture and be able to assist and mentor both Brandon and other members of the tax team.
This person should be comfortable with compliance and reviewing taxable income calculations, federal and state returns, apportionment, estimated payments, etc. While we use CorpTax and any experience with CTX would be helpful, the primary area of detail review will be the calculations and forms themselves, and not the actual software.
Some research will be necessary and the ability to review and provide notes to Brandon as he increases his research and analysis skills.
While we are organized and prefer to plan as much as possible, this person needs to be able to adapt and deal with tasks/projects that come as on the go. We generally try to avoid much overtime, but occasionally we need to put in extra time as deadlines approach or something out of the ordinary comes up. So, while you can usually count on a steady, expected work schedule, some flexibility should be expected.
As expected, good communication, both orally and in writing is golden. We have a very collaborative team and work well together, and therefore looking for an individual contributor who can join and help with our technical and compliance review needs.
The SR Group (UK) Limited is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
