As a Private Client Associate, you will be entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities, including:
Drafting wills and orchestrating succession planning, including the establishment and maintenance of wealth planning structures like trusts, foundations, family investment companies, and partnerships.
Providing expert guidance on inheritance tax, reliefs, exemptions, double tax treaties, and key planning exercises.
Advising on cross-border succession planning, navigating conflict of law issues, and collaborating with foreign counsel to tailor global strategies.
Offering counsel on tax residency, domicile, and intricate tax principles, including remittance basis, split year treatment, overseas workday relief, and related personal tax matters.
Assisting trustees and beneficiaries with their rights and responsibilities regarding trusts, including involvement in restructuring projects.
Handling legal aspects tied to mental capacity loss, including preparing and registering lasting powers of attorney.
Advising individuals and trustees on the use of private capital for philanthropic and impact investing, including charitable law consultation.
Guiding clients on reporting, information exchange, transparency, and anti-corruption initiatives.
Providing tax advice on the setup, retention or unwinding of UK residential property holding structures, covering income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, corporate tax, ATED, and SDLT issues.
Tackling various other tax and private client issues as they arise.
Candidate Profile: To excel in this role, we are seeking a candidate with at least 5 years PQE, qualified in England & Wales, and boasting outstanding academic credentials. High-quality training and prior experience with a firm specializing in private client practice will be highly regarded.
