A global specialty chemicals company is seeking a Global Tax Director to lead their tax team. This role involves 75% tax compliance and provision responsibilities, with 25% focused on tax planning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with multinational corporations and managing complex tax operations across multiple jurisdictions. This person will report directly into the Global Head of Tax.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all tax reporting and compliance through managing third-party advisors and internal resources.
  • Prepare quarterly tax provisions (current and deferred tax) under IFRS, and support overseas teams in provision calculations and tax balance reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with finance, treasury, and legal teams to ensure accurate tax disclosures for the group’s consolidated accounts under IFRS.
  • Maintain processes and controls for accurate tax reporting, identifying opportunities for improvement and automation.
  • Manage tax risk, communicating key issues to the Head of Tax and relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead tax forecasting and modeling related to corporate initiatives and legislative changes.
  • Support process improvements, including automation projects to streamline corporate tax and reporting.
  • Establish and manage responses to OECD Pillar 2 requirements and ensure alignment with group annual reporting and Country by Country Reporting.

Requirements:

  • Recognized accounting and/or tax qualification.
  • Extensive experience in tax reporting and compliance, ideally within a large multinational business.
  • Proficient with OneStream or HFM, SAP, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in business partnering.
  • Leadership skills, with a focus on team development and coaching.
  • Ability to think strategically while executing operational tasks.
  • Expertise in regional/international corporate taxes including tax accounting (IFRS & IAS 12), transfer pricing, M&A tax issues, indirect taxes, and tax structuring.
  • Strong negotiation skills with internal teams and external authorities.
