Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the preparation and review of all U.S. federal, state, and local income tax filings and related extension and estimated tax payments.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of all U.S. federal, state, and local income tax projections.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of all the PTET calculations for the Speyer family office.
  • Identify and resolve any U.S. federal, state and local income tax issues related to the company’s global business.
  • Coordinate with global tax teams to ensure all non-U.S. tax filings are prepared and filed, review the firm’s foreign taxes, determine their eligibility as foreign tax credits, and optimize the utilization of foreign tax credits for the Speyer family office.
  • Coordinate with global tax teams to review the company’s non-U.S. structures, tax regimes and fee arrangements to determine if there are any tax planning strategies to consider to maximize the company’s after-tax profits.
  • Review the state apportionment methodologies for the jurisdictions in which the company does business.
  • Oversee and coordinate any U.S. federal, state and local tax audits and respond to inquiries from the various taxing authorities in jurisdictions the firm operates in.
  • Review the company’s revenue recognition and expense deductibility policies and ensure that our tax and internal accounting teams are properly reflecting gross revenue and expenses.
  • Perform a high- level review of payroll taxes and tax implications of employee benefits.
  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure books and records are being kept in accordance with U.S tax accounting principles.
  • Work closely with the family office to provide them with the information needed to prepare the owners’ individual tax returns and the family office understands the tax impact of the business and its investments on the owners.
  • Coordinate with the Global CFO and Global CAO as need be to field questions and provide any information regarding the company’s tax position.
  • Coordinate with the Global CAO and accounting team on the firm’s monthly cash flow budget which includes a projection for taxes that will be paid globally.

Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of relevant experience, ideally experience working in both public accounting and private industry.
  • Undergraduate degree required, MS in tax preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to access and communicate complex topics to senior management and third parties in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Experience in the real estate industry preferred
  • Adept at handling multiple projects/responsibilities
  • Collegial orientation
