What you will be doing

The main goal of this position at first is to help bring the tax accounting activity in-house and further develop this into a best in class process, while the tax compliance will remain with our external advisor.

You will be responsible for implementing and executing processes, giving you the chance to add your own input and develop your own ideas.

This position covers all our entities across Europe (180 entities overall) so you will act as an advisor to the local finance team while supporting and supervising the work of our supplier.

Your day to day tasks include:

  • Contribute to develop world class Tax Accounting & Reporting process;
  • Contribute to and manage the US GAAP based income tax accounting process for all legal entities in Europe (approx. 180 entities);
  • Support the timely and accurate preparation of the complex quarterly and annual US GAAP tax provision exercise through the use of applicable tax accounting technology (One Source Tax Provision), including ETR analysis, deferred and current roll forward, return-to-provision exercise and explanations to fluctuations that occur;
  • Provide input to local teams regarding entries to the tax accounts in the general ledger system(Workday) in a timely, accurate and high-quality manner;
  • Be the go-to person for local finance teams for technical guidance with respect to Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC740);
  • Monitor timely corporate income tax and withholding tax payments, forecasting and tracking;
  • Assist with tax calculations for the local GAAP financial statements, with special focus on Dutch GAAP;
  • Be part of developing the internal control framework, with a focus on process improvements, risk management, SOX controls and data efficiency;
  • Develop and implement process automation in Workday and OTP (One-Source Tax Provision) to increase efficiency and accuracy for reporting and monitoring purposes; Other tools that we use within the company for automation of reporting are Power BI and Adaptive.
  • Manage regional finance teams and external service providers for the timely filing of the corporate income Tax returns and related documentation;
  • Manage other reporting requirements such as Withholding Tax Returns, Certificate of residence;
  • Contribute to develop and implement new reporting requirements, such as Pilar 2;

Who we’re looking for:

This position is ideal for you if you have some corporate experience plus some experience from one of the Big 4 or similar, and you feel you want to do more, not just stick to existing processes.

You will join a position within a very challenging environment so you must be capable of having a vision of what the Tax activity will look like and design the processes to get there.

You will also have:

  • A Bachelor or Master degree in Taxation preferred, combined with 3 to 5-plus years of progressively responsible experience in public accounting and/or tax accounting experience in a large global corporation;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Tax Accounting and Compliance processes (including US GAAP tax provision process);
  • Strong analytical (quantitative as well as qualitative) skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Dutch: nice to have);
  • Strong interpersonal skills and stature to quickly gain respect and build strong working relationships across the organization, at varying levels;
  • A curious mindset, commitment, servant leadership skills and a willingness to challenge the status quo;
  • Well organized, detail oriented, flexible, comfortable working in a highly dynamic and demanding environment;
  • Knowledge of Workday, OTP, Power-BI and/or Adaptive is a plus
