Senior Manager, State and Local Tax
State and Local Tax Manager Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office)
Employment Type: Full-Time
We’re hiring a State and Local Tax Manager to join our Chicago-based tax team. This is a high-impact role for a process-oriented professional with strong technical expertise and leadership experience. You’ll oversee key compliance and provision activities, manage special projects, and lead a small team-all while helping shape strategic tax initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead state and local tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Manage ASC 740 provision work, including quarterly and annual reporting
- Drive process improvements and ensure accuracy in documentation
- Supervise and mentor two direct reports
- Lead special projects, including credit and incentive initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with corporate and external tax teams
- Support audit responses and legislative impact assessments
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- CPA preferred but not required
- 5+ years of state and local tax experience, including ASC 740
- Background in public accounting and/or corporate tax
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience with credit and incentive programs is a plus
Work Environment:
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days/week in office
- Standard office setting with occasional travel
