Senior Manager, International Tax Planning
Key Accountabilities
- You will manage and complete joint tax compliance/tax strategy projects and workstreams as a key technical resource supporting link between tax impact of transactions and resulting reporting.
- Oversee team of staff, seniors and managers in preparation and review of certain US International and Domestic Tax Return Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 5472, 1118, 1120, 1065, 1120-F, and state filings and supporting workpapers, tax adjustments, disclosures, and statements (tax filings are primary international).
- Planning for and review of quarterly provision and E&P projections measuring US tax impact of foreign operations (Sub F, GILTI, BEAT, FDII, etc.).
- Support tax planning by managing aspects of projects including research and writing of technical positions, information gathering, due diligence, risk analysis, measuring and supporting tax basis /attributes, measuring gain/loss, evaluating accounting methods, scenario modelling etc.
- Document the relevant US tax implications of transactions and tax positions for the company including income measurement and supporting tax basis/attributes. Identify disclosures and reporting requirements, oversee/prepare applicable disclosures, and effectively communicate impacts to applicable teams.
- Support tax structuring, due diligence, and analysis of transactions (including acquisitions, dispositions mergers, integration, internal restructurings) and routine and non-routine business activities.
- Research and analyze the latest developments in applicable tax laws; document, communicate, and implement appropriate measures taken or to be taken.
- Maintain and centralize U.S. tax attributes such as E&P and tax pools, U.S. tax basis in partnerships and corporations, distributable earnings, loss recapture accounts, etc.
- Support income tax examinations. Assist the group in tax audits where required, including responses to inquiries from U.S./global tax authorities.
- Develop best practices to streamline processes and integrate information sharing between the compliance and planning functions.
- Collaborate and interact with foreign counterparts and other company personnel in support of tax and non-tax initiatives. Be service oriented.
- Train, mentor and develop members of the Tax Department and encourage a collaborative team environment and contribute to the technical training of staff.
- Ad hoc projects. This may include FATCA issues, tax projections, tax modelling, research, and process development.
About You
- Solid academics, BA/BS in Accounting required, graduate tax/accounting degree, CPA required
- 9-12 years of tax experience; international tax experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to independently coordinate resources and complete assigned projects with minimal supervision.
- Must have strong tax research and written/verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Must demonstrate sound, accurate judgment & thorough detail oriented
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and carry out tasks with a sense of urgency
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects on a timely basis, developing realistic action plans
- Some travel may be required
