Responsabilities:

  • Tax research and planning:
    • Federal, State and Local tax, and foreign tax matters
    • Analysis (including modeling) and planning in respect of acquisitions and intercompany transfers, both domestic and cross border, including foreign country direct and indirect tax implications
    • Collaborating with domestic and foreign tax and legal advisers to minimize adverse tax consequences from client activities
    • Providing guidance to tax compliance teams and tax management on tax legislative updates, and assisting in determining tax impact
    • Actively applying tax and business knowledge and working with tax management in preparation of detailed planning and analysis memoranda re the above.
    • Interfacing with internal professionals and clients and providing written advice on tax planning and structuring matters
  • Active participation in tax audits/controversy matters, including preparation of responses to tax authorities, and projects gathering information regarding the same.
  • Reviewing vendor and customer contracts, and offering memoranda, and identify tax issues and propose changes.
  • Merger and Acquisition work including carrying out due diligence, identification and research of related tax issues, and financial analysis of structuring alternatives.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of tax experience with an emphasis on research and planning matters – preferably Big 4, law firm, or Fortune 500 company.
  • Experience in audit defense matters and preparation of responses and gathering information and analysis to formulate responses to Information Document Requests issued by tax authorities.
  • Self-starter that can work on tax planning and research projects and produce draft memoranda for managers to review.
  • Strong tax analytical skills necessary to apply tax technical concepts to complex transactions/structures.
  • Strong communication skills to enable complex tax matters to be explained in writing and verbally to internal and external clients (e.g., non-tax specialists).
  • In-depth familiarity with tax research techniques and resources.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting and collaborate with outside advisers as well as professionals in other departments.
  • Skill in managing and teaching other tax professionals.
