Indirect Tax Manager
My client is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to take a leading role in managing indirect tax compliance and advisory responsibilities. This is a fantastic opportunity for a tax professional with 2 – 3 years post qualification experience, offering broad exposure across the group and a balance of compliance and advisory work, with an emphasis on advisory. However, newly qualified and qualified by experience candidates, with excellent business partnering capabilities will also be considered.
The successful candidate will join a close-knit team and will have one direct report, overseeing compliance operations while also providing strategic guidance to the business. This role is key in ensuring that my client remains tax-compliant, well-prepared for legislative changes, and commercially optimised.
About the role:
- Lead Indirect Tax compliance for the business, ensuring accurate and timely submission of returns. This includes reviewing returns and ensuring they are filed correctly.
- Manage indirect tax risk, identifying and implementing mitigating controls.
- Partner closely with the business, providing tax advice on new initiatives, including commercial propositions and system changes, ensuring appropriate tax structures are in place.
- Assess upcoming legislative changes, ensuring the business is well-prepared and compliant.
- Support the Head of Tax with strategic planning and risk management.
- Act as a trusted business partner to local finance teams, offering clear and commercially focused tax guidance.
- Work closely with the IT team to improve VAT processes and systems.
- Manage external tax authority interactions, including supporting on audits.
- Keep abreast of industry and legislative changes.
About you:
- Circa 2 – 3 years PQE (or equivalent experience).
- A tax or accounting qualification (such as CTA, ACA, ACCA) is highly advantageous but not essential.
- Strong experience dealing with large businesses and navigating complex tax issues.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain tax matters to non-tax personnel.
- Strong commercial acumen, understanding how tax decisions impact wider business objectives.
- Previous experience managing or mentoring a team is desirable.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel is advantageous.
This role will be hybrid – one day a week required in the London office and one day a week required in the regional office, with the other three days from home.
