About the Financial Services Indirect Tax Team

The Financial Services (FS) Indirect Tax team operates within the broader Indirect Tax group, specializing in Banking & Capital Markets, Investment Management, Insurance, and Fintech.

With deep expertise across the FS industry, the team provides tailored, practical guidance to clients on VAT and IPT regulations for complex transactions and business structures. Staying ahead of industry developments, the team frequently collaborates with professional bodies and government agencies such as HM Treasury and HM Revenue & Customs. Given the global nature of client operations, team members engage regularly with the firm’s international network, gaining valuable cross-border experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthening relationships with target accounts and contributing to new business growth
  • Leading client engagements, with direct reporting to partners
  • Mentoring and developing junior staff through hands-on guidance and support
  • Identifying new market opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally
  • Enhancing client relationships and fostering collaboration across the firm
  • Promoting diversity and inclusion while effectively managing diverse teams

Required Skills and Experience

  • Previous Financial Services VAT experience, gained within industry, professional services, or HMRC
  • Strong client-facing skills, relationship-building expertise, and commercial awareness
  • CTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • A proactive approach with the ability to identify opportunities and take early responsibility
