Hedge Fund Accounting & Operations Associate
Top-tier $6 Billion credit relative value hedge fund seeks an Accounting & Operations Associate in the New York office to join a close-knit team of specialists focusing on the multifaceted aspects of fund accounting and operations. Responsibilities include daily cash and position reconciliation with our prime brokers, preparation of daily profit and loss statement, reconciliation of monthly NAV’s, performance reporting, fund financing, interaction with prime brokers and processing complex corporate actions. The team emphasizes cross-training and exposure across group functions is assured.
Successful candidates are likely to possess:
- 2 – 7 years’ work experience at an investment management company, preferably a hedge fund
- Education should include Accounting and/or Finance
- Experience performing daily cash and position reconciliation with our prime brokers, preparation of daily profit and loss statement, reconciliation of monthly NAV’s, and performance reporting
- Exposure to trade booking, trade reconciliation and settlements
- Experience handling prime brokerage related issues (Margin, position, trade breaks, and fails)
- Able to research and resolve discrepancies independently
- A willingness to embrace technology and the aptitude to apply technology to processes
- Experience in swap operations for credit default swaps, total return swaps and Futures is preferred
- Knowledge of the investment process and financial markets
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- A self-motivated, pro-active and entrepreneurial attitude
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a team environment
- An ability to think critically and objectively
