Funds Tax Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to some or all the following:
- Prepare the ASC 740 analysis and impact on the funds.
- Assist in the review and oversight of the tax preparation outsourced service provider.
- Review of monthly, quarterly, and annual distributions.
- Review of fiscal year-end and excise tax provision work-papers.
- Review of financial statements, prospectus, and SAI to ensure all tax sections are properly represented.
- Review of tax return preparation and filings, including extensions.
- Oversight of year-end ICI reporting, including the review and coordination of supplement tax reporting.
- Assist Tax Director with new product launches including tax structure set up, research, updating of internal policies and procedures.
- Assist in tax planning and conversations with senior management and sub-advisors.
- Responsible for analysis and suggest improvements in technology, processes, and procedures.
- Responsible for the content posted to the Tax page of the funds’ website.
- Oversight of the relationship with the various foreign tax agents, including high level review of quarterly and annual filings.
- Coordinate with the various teams to ensure all filings are complete for tax reclaim processing, withholding at source and establish department procedures.
- Ensure timely filing and payment of all federal/state/local/NRA tax liabilities.
- Respond to federal/state/local/NRA tax notices and inquires.
- Stay current with applicable federal, state, local, and NRA reporting requirements.
- Research and interpret federal/state/local/NRA tax withholding and reporting regulations.
- Responsible for customer satisfaction, managing and meeting internal and external client expectations and supporting the goal of 100% client satisfaction.
Position Requirements
- BA/BS degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, or business-related field
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience working in public accounting or a private firm reviewing tax work related to regulated investment companies
- Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency required
- 1099-Composite and 1099-R reporting experience preferred
- Federal/State/local/NRA withholding, and reporting experience strongly preferred
- Adaptable/flexible; ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Problem solving skills, including the ability research the applicable rules and guidance
- Organizational and analytical skills
- Interpersonal and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team
- Support team leader/manager on team projects
