Financial Analyst – 12‑Month Fixed Term Contract (International Law Firm – London)

Location: Central London (Hybrid)

Contract: 12‑Month FTC

A respected international law firm is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its finance function on a 12‑month fixed term contract. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, supporting financial planning, analysis, reporting, and performance insight.

This position is particularly well‑suited to professionals currently working in external audit who are looking to make their first move in‑house, especially those who enjoy analytical work, partnering with non‑finance teams, and improving financial processes.

About the Finance Function:

You will join a forward‑thinking financial planning and analysis environment that works in partnership with colleagues across the business. The team focuses on delivering high‑quality insight, supporting strategic decision‑making, and driving continuous improvements in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Support preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Work with stakeholders to validate assumptions and ensure consistency
  • Assist with firmwide planning and review cycles
  • Maintain and refine budgeting tools and templates

Financial Analysis:

  • Analyse performance vs. budget and prior periods
  • Review income drivers, utilisation trends, and profitability metrics
  • Consolidate data from various sources and turn it into meaningful insight

Reporting:

  • Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Support reporting enhancements including process automation
  • Assist with testing and validating new or improved management reports

Business Partnering:

  • Work with senior stakeholders to review performance and discuss variances
  • Deliver presentations and updates on business performance
  • Collaborate with other internal teams to produce accurate utilisation and performance data

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or external audit; This role is ideal for candidates in external audit seeking their first move in‑house
  • Strong Excel skills; exposure to BI tools is a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data for non‑financial audiences
  • Collaborative and confident in building stakeholder relationships
