Position Summary

The Corporate Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s corporate accounting operations, financial reporting, audit coordination, and tax compliance. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data and supports strategic financial initiatives across the company real estate portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual external audit process, ensuring timely and accurate responses to auditor requests.
  • Oversee filing of federal, state, and local tax returns in collaboration with external tax advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, and support tax planning strategies.
  • Monitor and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage general ledger activities, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and cash flow projections
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions and reconciliations.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and tools.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with finance and business teams to provide accounting insights for budgeting, forecasting, and investment analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting / audit experience
  • Ideally a blend of industry and external audit (public accounting experience)
  • Open to candidates coming straight from public accounting, manager level
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, audit and tax compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
