This privately owned business was founded 15 years ago by two of the UK's leading entrepreneurs. With revenues of c.£80m and 700+ employees, it is a market leader in the European hospitality and Leisure industry. The business is solid and sustainable, the newly appointed management team is charged with the mandate to drive the performance of the business, transforming it to ensure profitability and an acceptable ROI for the capital partner.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a highly visible and crucial role and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with a dotted line to the Board. The CFO will be responsible for maintaining financial governance, IT platforms, systems and disciplines and providing high quality, proactive and commercially insightful analysis. The CEO and Board will also expect strategic advice and solutions to ensure the company meets financial and commercial objectives. Critical to the role will be creating better visibility of cost structures, driving automation and creating efficiencies in back office processes. The business is operationally focused and entrepreneurial and this autonomous and empowering role will contribute to: commercial negotiations; investment decisions; strategy development and execution; along with managing a team responsible for financial and management reporting, compliance and Board reporting. This role will be critical in driving the business through a stabilisation and restructure phase whilst implementing best practice. The CFO will act as the confidant and right-hand person to the CEO, freeing him up to focus on growing the business. The CFO will work closely with the revenue and cost centre managers to drive a culture of accountability.
The successful candidate will be an experienced CFO who is entrepreneurial, a business builder who spends time in the operations, understands the key drivers of the business and performance and accountability, ensures there are no surprises, and that issues are quickly brought to the attention of the CEO and the Board. The CFO will quickly understand how to complement the strengths and weaknesses of the CEO, tracking quickly, briefing ahead of time, and providing initiative and solutions for the business. Experience of working at high growth company within the Hospitality, Restaurants/Pubs or Leisure industries is essential.
