Alternative Investment Fund Tax Manager
We are currently seeking a professional, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to fill the Alternative Investment Fund Tax Manager position. This role can be based in Baltimore, New York, or Washington, DC. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Director of Tax to advise stakeholders on the tax implications of alternative investment fund investments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with external tax service providers.
- Coordinate the delivery of K-1s for alternative investment partnership funds.
- Liaise with the Fund Administration team and third-party fund administrator regarding accounting packages, partner allocations, underlying fund K-1s, investor information, and more.
- Prepare and maintain schedules for K-1 tracking, foreign investor reporting info, stock distributions, partner transfers, state filing information, partner address changes, etc.
- Coordinate the timely filing of income tax, personal property, and other annual filings.
- Coordinate tax-related payments with tax service providers and accounts payable team.
- Track and address federal and state tax notices promptly.
- Work with client service teams to ensure maintenance of investor information needed for K-1 reporting.
- Conduct tax research and draft memoranda on various tax issues as required.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of work experience in public accounting or at a private equity firm.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- CPA License.
- Prior experience with Partnership Tax Compliance.
- Prior experience with alternative investment funds.
- Excellent tax research skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and stay organized.
