Accounting Manager
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure requirements are being met for customers of the various accounting and finance business processes and continuously look to improve on the customers level of satisfaction
- Identify and communicate on key operational factors impacting the company’s financial performance
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, including maintenance of internal controls and protection of company assets
- Provide guidance to and obtain buy-in from accounting team members when questions arise and in the light of changes to customer expectations, business process requirements or external influences
- Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
- Gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports
- Financial analysis including Budgeting, Forecasting/Planning, System Monitoring/Auditing, Variance Analysis and Financial Modelling
- Streamlining and improving of internal and external reporting
- Ability to be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users
- Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions for improvement
- Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings
- Effectively communicating insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management
- Prioritizing initiatives based on business needs and manage competing resources and priorities to ensure timely completion of deliverables
- Day to day support of the billing and collections as part of the Accounts Receivable Team
- Backup Finance Director as needed in financial reporting, bank reporting, audits, and tax preparation
- Backup to weekly payroll processing as well as related payroll tax payments, 401k monitoring, state and federal tax reporting and monthly reporting requirements
- Address periodic, spontaneous requests by customers of the accounting and finance functions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- CPA or CMA Preferred
- 2 or more years of experience in accounting and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles [GAAP] and internal controls Experience with auditing and tax preparation
- Experience with banking
- Experience working with senior decision makers and the ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions
- Strong communication and presentation skills along with productive relationship building
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Advanced Excel, financial modeling, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and with others
