The Brewer Morris European salary guide provides insight into the key industry trends facing tax professionals. Our report includes both a complete breakdown of salaries, firstly by country then tax specialism, as well as a market commentary for each specific region. We are delighted to have insight from tax leaders across a variety of European countries to support this guide. They highlight the key challenges facing the European market which include: digitalisation, tax transparency & BEPS.
Below is an extract from the Denmark section.
Whilst most of Europe has been focussed on the impact of the BEPS initiative and its impact on tax policy changes, the Danish tax system has focussed heavily on the effectiveness of the tax authority and the raft of reputational issues following a series of scandals, notably the exploitation of their refund system which resulted in an estimated DKK 12.3 billion being drawn.
The restructure of the Danish tax authority will no doubt result in an increased flow of work for the tax community following the calls for reform. As a result tax professionals with a strength in tax compliance and planning will be in high demand, whilst also tax lawyers following an expected increase in tax disputes.
