We hosted our \u2018Advancing your tax career\u2019 webinar which featured a panel of in-house tax experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosted by Jack Hart<\/a> from our Brewer Morris team in North America, the session explored how to advance your career within in-house tax, with our panellists sharing valuable advice and tips<\/a> on what key areas up-and-coming candidates should focus on to further their careers, as well as what characteristics Heads of Tax<\/a> look for when hiring talent<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We asked our panellists about their elevated strengths. We asked each to highlight one in particular that has helped them progress and stand out amongst their peers during their well-established tax careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a strength you feel has elevated you above your peers throughout your career?<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

One of our panellists was Sandhya Egupaganty<\/a>, VP Tax and Treasury at E2open. Sandhya shared that her key strength was always having an openess to change. She described that this included having an understanding that just because you do something a certain way, it might not necessarily be the way you should continue to do that thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sandhya went on to mention that sometimes you will be the person who needs to initiate a change, this could be making sure you have the right support, the right team in place and are your sharing the same mindset in the best interest of the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the biggest change in soft skills needed you\u2019ve seen since the start of your career?<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

One of our panellists was Wayne Monfries<\/a>, SVP Head of Global Tax at Visa. Wayne discussed that these soft skill requirements will continue to change throughtout your career when approaching different levels. When Wayne started, he commented that this was to make tax as \u2018complicated as possible\u2019. But, as your constigancy becomes less tax during your career path, he added that you become more of a translator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key Wayne learnt is to be this translator and oposed to complicating tax \u2013 you need to make your colleagues leave the covnersation with understanding how what you\u2019re trying deliver effects and impacts them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
