Brewer Morris is proud to be supporting International Women’s Day 2018. We have interviewed a selection of our female clients asking them how they are pressing forward for women’s gender parity #pressforprogress

Past Progress

If you could tell your younger self one thing what would it be and why?

Don’t be afraid to think big. I remember telling a careers adviser at school that I wanted to be a lawyer, and then being told ‘we don’t have lawyers in this country so think of something else more realistic’. Even then I remember thinking she was wrong and that I could do whatever I put my mind to. I moved to London to go to university and a whole world of opportunities opened up and I never looked back.

Present Progress

What is your personal mantra?

It comes from my Mum and I hear her voice whenever I say it – shy bairns get nowt! Essentially don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself, ask for things and just go for it. The worst that can happen is you’re told no. Like lots of women, I don’t naturally like to put myself out there, so keeping this in mind during a negotiation helps me.

Future Progress

What kind of legacy do you wish to leave behind?
I’ll have done well in my life if I feel I’ve fulfilled my potential and helped others to do the same along the way.
