With a hectic summer sporting schedule in 2012, not to be outdone the Brewer Morris five a side football tournament moved over to June for one year only. With an impressive line-up of teams there was no room for the faint-hearted in London’s premier TAX football competition. In a picturesque setting on a rooftop near Canary wharf, battle commenced on a warm summers day.
The tournament was split into two gruelling leagues with the top two teams in each league qualifying for the semi-final. After a tough league stage Tesco, FTI Consulting, HW Fisher and Goodman Jones made it through to the semi-finals. Tesco were the eventual champions running out winners in a closely fought final against FTI Consulting, with HW Fisher picking up the plate cup for third place.
Best of all was that great fun was had by all topped off with a post tournament barbecue and drinks amid ruminations of what could have been “if we had only had our first team out”.
Well there is a chance to make amends as this year the 2013 competition is back in August, and with an even bigger and convenient venue this promises to be the most keenly contested tournament yet! Can Tesco retain their crown, or will FTI go one better? Will there be a new contender to the prize?
