Managing one direct report in Amsterdam and reporting directly to the Global VP of Tax in the US, you will take responsibility for overseeing the outsourced compliance, managing the tax reporting to the US and all advisory issues across the EMEA region. In addtion to all advisory and planning projects, your remit will see you: - Ensure that all tax returns, tax declarations and other required reports in Europe are submitted accurately and on time
- Identify and implement process improvements – will see the "big picture" and have an analytical approach for existing and to be implemented processes.
- Coordination of tax compliance and tax audit defense process
- Provide monthly reporting to the US on the status of filings and tax audits
- Perform tax reserve analysis as it relates to VAT and other non-income taxes
- Provide data for US Form 5471 filings
- Monitor implementation and documentation of transfer pricing policies
- Coordinate with Treasury to ensure intercompany transactions are being settled in accordance with the intercompany agreements
- Evaluate current or proposed European activities, policies, business practices and transactions to identify risk areas and planning opportunities
- Proactive communication and interface with Corporate Tax Department in US (AT&T and Sterling Commerce) and all relevant internal departments
- Calculate and record the monthly income tax provision and maintain the deferred European tax on the balance sheet; assist with FIN 48 analysis
- Assist with benefits-related tax matters Management of external tax advisors Liaison with AT&T EMEA tax department on European tax issues
