US Law Firms in London

There has been limited recruitment at the senior associate/partner designate level due to the majority of US firms having at least a two-year track to partnership.

When the US firms were really establishing themselves in London, there was significant recruitment at all levels. Over the last couple of years there have still been instances of high-profile US firms recruiting senior associates as immediate partners.

Due to growth, US firms in London have taken on trainees, and those associates they actively recruited five or so years ago are now on the verge of partnership.

There have been instances recently of US firms in London starting to expand their London practices, creating a strategic need to recruit senior associates as heads of department with a view to partnership at a later stage. These individuals did not require followings.
